The secret is out, and my heart is overflowing with joy as I finally share this news: I’m pregnant! Just by being, this little baby has brought incredible joy and love into our lives, shining a glimmering ray of light and hope for us and so many others after a challenging 2024. We are already head over heels in love with our little bug and simply cannot wait for them to join us earthside.
How I Found Out I Was Pregnant
After every ounce of strength my husband and I had was stretched to its limit in 2024, we prayed for a glimmer of hope to end a year tested by loss and sorrow. We had been on a long, uncertain journey trying to conceive (something I’ll share more about soon) and we believed that the miracle of new life could begin to heal our broken hearts.
In late October, we held a memorial service for someone we deeply loved, and in the quiet of that moment, something within me whispered that I was pregnant. Just a few days later, before heading off to work, I took a pregnancy test. After what felt like an eternity of anxious waiting, the result appeared, and tears of joy streamed down my face as relief and hope flooded my soul.
How I Told My Husband
Naturally, my husband was scheduled for a twelve-hour shift the day I found out I was pregnant, so the waiting didn’t end with the few minutes it took for the pregnancy test to develop. Months earlier, I had bought a candle in anticipation of this moment – one that read “Always read the fine print.” with “We’re having a baby!” hidden in the fine print.
After overtime, the world’s longest shower, and some aimless puttering around the house, he finally came to settle down next to me on the couch. I asked him to light the candle I had strategically placed in front of the TV. And to my relief, he actually read the fine print! What followed was all tears and long embraces, immeasurable joy and full hearts.
This baby is the answer to countless prayers and a dream come true for more than just my husband and me. Sharing this news feels almost surreal, but it’s a moment that we have waited so long for.
