We have all heard the phrase a million times: Life’s too short. While it’s too short for a lot of things, it’s especially too short to have a boring wardrobe. Whether it’s a bold print or an unusual style, if it lifts up your spirits, you should embrace it. For so long, I avoided any element of fashion that made me stand out. If it would draw attention in my direction, I wanted nothing to do with it (#emokidforlife). But where’s the excitement in that? As I said, life’s too short, so let’s get out there and wear the fun sh*t!
Finding Fashion
As a very insecure, redheaded young girl, embracing anything regarding fashion was completely out of the picture for me. I thought every style of clothing looked awful on my body type, and I especially thought most colors clashed with my hair color. Most days I would end up wearing a baggy sweatshirt and jeans, while most of my peers were in Hollister mini skirts and brightly colored tees.
For reference and comedic effect, I have rounded up a few photos from my younger years. Just promise not to laugh too hard or use it against me.
Fast forward to now and you’ll find me fully in love with expressing myself through fashion. I am living in my own light and having fun with fashion for the first time in my life. Sometimes an all-black ensemble is fitting my mood, on more casual occasions it’s a pair of jeans and a vintage tee, but if the world is feeling dim and I want to add a bit of brightness to it, I LOVE reaching for my favorite fun, funky fashion pieces.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge sucker for the neutral, everyday staple pieces of clothing too. That is typically my norm. But if I get a wild hair up my ass and want to have fun with a bold, happy print, I like to know that I have a handful of options to choose from.
My Favorite Fun Fashion Brand
Years and years ago, I stumbled across the most beautiful floral dress on an Anthropologie sales rack. The mixed prints were incredible, the embroidered details were stunning, I simply couldn’t resist. Lucky for me the store was having one of their extra-sale-on-sale-items sales, so I scraped my pennies together and I bought the dress! And that is when my love of all things FARM Rio began. Before I continue, here are a few photos of the dress that started it all and some words from the brand itself.

We believe in quality, we adore details, and the emotions created by these elements, because a powerful product inspires positive transformations in everyone and everywhere.
Think tropical flowers, bananas, leopards and toucans. Ah yes, you read that right. Bananas AND toucans. That barely scratches the surface of the fun prints that they have available.
